Everything seemed so right. A video game based on classic cult film that in itself had a great video game plotline: make it from the center of New York City back to your home base on Coney island alive, while every gang in town is hunting you. The gangs are numerous and overly stylized, almost cartoonish. There are mime gangs, girl gangs, skater gangs, even baseball fan gangs (the infamous Baseball Furies, bedecked in vintage Yankee uniforms and war paint). Each gang has nine members, a perfectly manageable number for gameplay variety. The fights are ultra-violent and in the vein of the Dirty Dozen, in that you never know who will survive. |

A new addition to the site, we decided to introduce the Gamer Profile section. By helping show a variety of gamers from around the world we hope to help dispel some of the more negative associations surrounding the term 'gamer'. The stereotype of the gamer is no longer all that realistic. With gamers of every age, race, sex and preference, it's time to lay to rest the idea that all gamers are young, white, male and only interested in violent video games. (not that there's anything wrong with any of those attributes, for that matter) As our first Gamer Profile participant we bring you Eliza Gauger, gamer, artist and space pirate extraordinaire. |

We've recently learned a very important lesson here at xxgamers, much to our chagrin. We have learned that regardless of what backups your webhost may be making of your website, it is best to make regular backups of your own. Though this was really something we should have considered at an earlier date, it's all too easy to become complacent if one believes the data to be well backed up elsewhere. In March of this year our webhost was hacked and our content was subsequently deleted. No big deal though, they had backups of the data, right? Wrong. |
